Since the support depends on your hardware, poor graphics hardware will not be able to run Windows Aero. ■ A graphics card capable of handling Windows Aero, plus any features for any software that will be run on Windows 7. Even Windows Aero works nicely on Linux, thanks to VirtualBox Guest Additions! VirtualBox Guest Additions is software that makes up for those deficiencies and adds additional integration features, such as the infamous Seamless mode offered by VirtualBox. While VirtualBox generally does a good job of running the guest OS, it has some limitations. What is VirtualBox Guest Additions? VirtualBox Guest Additions is extra software that can be installed inside the OS running inside of the virtual machine,at or the guest machine. This setup is used to concurrent run two or more operating systems without having to switch between computers or operating systems on the same system. The host machine, the OS that you are using to run VirtualBox, emulates the guest machine. ![]() The OS is generally virtualized (or simply emulated), and is called the guest. This is not to be confused with dual booting, which involves having both operating systems installed on the system, and only having one operating system running at once. Simply said, you can have Windows XP running at the same time on your Windows 7 desktop. Win7-17-39-32 log.txt the log (82.What is VirtualBox? VirtualBox is a virtualization software that allows one to run an operating system while simultaneously running their main operating system. If hardware virtualization is enabled on the host but you cannot install 64-bit guests, it means that VirtualBox cannot use hardware virtualization even though it is enabled. Guest Additions did not do anything to combat this, and in fact the only thing it did both times was sync the time: it didn't speed the VM up or add the correct resolution. The first two times I tried actually let me boot into Windows and complete the installation (even though I had to go into cmd and go into regedit in order for it to complete both times) however it was very slow. Yesterday, I left the VM running for about an hour, and came back seeing it was still on the "Starting Windows" screen. The dots which make up the Windows logo take an age to perform their animation: I have signed up to Oracle, and wrote this post and it STILL hasn't gone into the setup menu, there is 1 frame about once every 10 seconds, however this has been up to a minute or more. When I try to boot into set up, it is extremely slow, and for the past 3 attempts (completely remaking the VM), have never got past the "Starting Windows" screen. Hello! I am new to the forum and VirtualBox, so I apologize if I have made a mistake somewhere: However I have an issue with a Windows 7 Home Premium VM. ![]()
